Nenets folklore group Vysei (Heart of the Tundra) celebrated the 20th anniversary

Members of the Nenets folklore group “Vysei” are performers of old Nenets songs and ritual works. The team includes 35 participants: 12 children of school and preschool age and 23 adult performers. The group’s repertoire includes the song heritage of the indigenous northerners, author’s works, oral folklore, ritual sketches, reproduction of the sounds of the Yamal nature.

The group was founded by two talented women, honored workers of culture of Yamal – Tatiana Lar and Elena Ufimtseva. “Vysei” is a laureate of international and all-Russian competitions and festivals. Today, “Vysei” is led by two young ladies, pupils of the “Soul of the Tundra” – Valentina Purunguy and Lydia Yar.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
