Karelian runes day

On June 10, Karelia celebrates the Day of Karelian Runes. On this day in 1820, the first written fixation of the rune was made.
What is a rune and why is it necessary to preserve the runic tradition?
A rune is a folklore work written with a special “Kalevala” metric that resembles a four-stop chorus.
The runic tradition is the treasure of the Karelian people. Runes preserve the tradition and spirit of the past, describe everyday life and beliefs, tell about magic and the adventures of heroes and gods. Runes attract more and more attention and undoubtedly deserve the status of the intangible heritage of the Karelians.On this day, the opening of a large exhibition of Karelian runes will take place. Runo on kalevalamittani folkloritevoš. Runoperinneh on karjalaisen rahvahan uarreh. Runoissa šäilyy muinaisajan perinneh ta henki. Ne kuvaillah ihmisien elämyä ta uškomukšie, kerrotah urhojen ta jumalien šeikkailuista. Runot heräytetäh enemmän kiinnoššušta ta šillä tietyšti pitäy myöntyä karjalaisien ei-ainehellisen kulttuurin statussi.
