Description:

The 2nd ICLE is jointly organized by the Commission on the Filipino Language (also known as KWF) Philippine Normal University-Language Study Center (PNU-LSC), University of the Philippines-Diliman, Department of Linguistics (UP-Lingg), and the De La Salle University, Department of Filipino (DLSU-Filipino). This three-day in-person conference aims to provide a platform for experts, language scholars, researchers, and  members of the indigenous cultural communities to share studies and experiences, and exchange ideas on how to address various issues related to language endangerment.

It aims to empower indigenous peoples (IPs) by engaging them in the  formulation of policies, programs, and research for the preservation of their language. The 2nd ICLE recognizes the capacity and ability of IPs in preserving their own language and culture.   In the International Decade of Indigenous Language (IDIL) 2022-2032 Global Action Plan (GAP), IPs are identified as one of the key target groups that need be involved in various activities concerning language, they will lead the change, they have the right and duty to transmit their language to the next generation. They cannot do it without the support of government agencies, institutions, organizations, experts, researchers, and other entities.

The 2nd ICLE will feature studies on language policies, language documentation, language revitalization, IP education, community-based programs, and other related topics that can help preserve indigenous languages.
