The indigenous languages are disappearing alarmingly at an unprecedented rate throughout the world. It is estimated that at least half of the world’s currently spoken languages will be extinct by the end of this century.
This time ARHI has organized it’s concluding program named “ In My Own Words”on Indigenous language by holding two daylong celebration on 24th and 25 th December 2019 at Baithalangsho,West Karbi Anglong district of Assam observing UN International Year of Indigenous Languages.
The second day program on 25 th December was held to commemorate the legend Rongsina Sarpo , Karbi Maestro of Indigenous culture in association with Karbi Honghari Dharam ,Baithalansho committee.The program witnessed performances of Karbi folk songs and ballads which were composed by Rongsina Sarpo.There was also a discussion on the contribution of Rongina Sarpo to cultural life of Karbi Tribe chaired by Sar Homari Rongphar ,President of Karbi Honghari Dharam,Baithalangsho ,and Secretary Sar Rasing Engti with the presence Karbi Traditional King of Hamren region .
