The work of the Youth session on the issues of ethnocultural development of indigenous peoples “Ethnopro” has been completed in the Republic of Karelia

The main purpose of its holding is to involve representatives of active youth in solving issues of ethno–cultural development of the indigenous peoples of Karelia.

From August 7 to August 10, more than 40 young activists from municipal districts and urban districts in the Republic of Karelia worked with experienced mentors on project ideas in the ethno-cultural sphere. The events of the session were held in Petrozavodsk in the House of Friendship of Peoples.

During the days of active and interesting work, the participants of the ethnic session talked about the preservation, development and popularization of indigenous languages and cultures, looked for new methods and forms of ethno-cultural development, worked out the possibilities of creating new modern products based on the rich ethnic heritage.

The program of the session included educational lectures from specialists in various fields – ethnomode, national cuisine, entrepreneurship, tourism.

The rich cultural program of the youth session – a tour of the Publishing House Periodica and the Peoples’ Friendship House, a visit to the Kizhi Museum, participation in the Karelian Kruuga flash mob, a trip to one of the most beautiful Karelian villages Kinerma – was aimed at getting acquainted with the best practices in the field of preserving interethnic peace and harmony, ethnocultural development of peoples.

During the session, the participants met with Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia Olga Shmaenik, Minister of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Kiselyov and learned about measures of state support for young professionals, as well as resources for the implementation of youth initiatives.

The result of the work at the ethnic session was the defense of project ideas in front of experienced experts. In the future, these ideas, with the methodological support of the Grants Fund of the Head of the Republic of Karelia, will be finalized to project applications, which the guys will be able to submit to federal and regional grant competitions in the near future.
