The Internet portal Taju (translated from Karelian “memory (heritage)”) has been created in Karelia.
Taju is the first Internet resource in the Republic demonstrating the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of Karelia.
The information portal includes two major service sections: “Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Karelia” and “Traditions of folk Art in modern culture”.
The structure of the section “Intangible cultural Heritage of the Republic of Karelia” includes: “Mythological representations and beliefs, ethnographic complexes”, “Confessional practices in folk culture”, “Folk performance”, “Traditional technologies”.
The second section of the information portal Taju (“Traditions of folk art in modern culture”) has subsections: “Folklore ensembles as a form of modern folklore”, “Folklore treatments and arrangements”, “Author’s music based on tradition” and “Traditional technologies in the context of modern culture”.
The project is realized by the Foundation for the Support and Development of Ethno-Cultural Initiatives together with the Center for Folk Art and Cultural Initiatives and the National Song and Dance Ensemble of Karelia Kantele with the support of the grants Fund of the Head of the Republic.
