As part of the project “The Age-old Connection of Traditions”, dedicated to the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, on October 11 the National Library hosted an interactive game “Proverbs as a Fount of Wisdom”. The event was not just for entertainment but it became a real cultural event emphasizing the richness and diversity of folk wisdom.
The participants of the game, and these were students from city schools, were invited to an exciting journey full of interactive tasks and puzzles. They were able to reflect on deep and apt expressions that encode the centuries-old experience of our ancestors’ wisdom. Funny riddles, humorous proverbs and witty sayings caused real excitement among the participants, who were divided into two teams. While unraveling the hidden meaning of the tasks, the participants of the game often resorted to ingenuity and resourcefulness.
During the event the Head of the Information and Bibliographic Department Elza Islamgirieva noted the importance of proverbs in culture.
– Proverbs are not just words. They are folk wisdom contained in short statements. Each of them carries valuable experience and knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. They help us better understand life and make the right choice, – the host emphasized.
As part of the event, a thematic exhibition “To the Origins of Folk Culture” was organized, which presented literature reflecting the rich diversity of cultures and peoples of Russia. Each visitor had the opportunity to get acquainted with unique books that open the doors to the mysterious world of traditions and customs that have survived to this day.
It is important to note that such events not only contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage but also emphasize the importance of indigenous languages as a means of conveying identity and traditions.
