“Nivkhi: children of the sea and taiga”

Cultural Event

20/04/2022 11:00 - 12:00

Asia and the Pacific | Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city | Victory Museum and Memorial Complex

Cultural performance

Languages: Russian, Nivkh (Sakhalin)

Culture and history are invisible threads connecting the past with the future. The transfer of cultural experience and respect for the traditions of our ancestors are extremely important in today’s dynamically developing society. Russian people did not always live on Sakhalin, the indigenous peoples of our island were Nivkhs, Wilts and others.
In the multimedia complex, the methodist conducted a cultural and educational program for schoolchildren with elements of the excursion “Nivkhi: children of the sea and taiga”. The children learned how they lived, what traditions they adhered to, what was included in the culture and way of life of the peoples of the North.
During the tour, boys and girls were waiting for games and interesting facts. Young visitors tried their hand at tug-of-war, assembled a house of nivkhs from puzzles for speed and tested their accuracy of hunters in the game “Darts”.
