On April 8, a unique creative event took place on the stage of the cinema and concert hall “Russia” in the city of Dolinsk – the screening of the laboratory theater project “Nivkhsu”, which sent the audience on an exciting immersive journey into the world inspired by the culture of indigenous peoples of the North of the Sakhalin region.
The performance combines traditional elements of folklore and everyday life of the Nivkhs and the modern language of the theater. This approach allows us to preserve and
transmit the priceless heritage of indigenous ethnic groups, as well as make it more accessible and interesting to the public.
The magnificent performance of the actors, the unique atmosphere and magic of the fairy tale, accompanied by thematic compositions from the musical duo
“Istoki” – all this allowed the audience to become direct participants in the performance, to feel the depth and versatility of the folk culture of our region.
By tradition, after the show there was a discussion with the audience, where the audience shared their amazing emotions from what they saw, asked a lot of interesting questions and voiced words of gratitude.
“Nivkhsu” is a vivid example of how the theater can unite people of different nationalities and fields of activity around a common goal in order to create and demonstrate something truly unique and memorable through the prism of modernity.
Recall that the project was organized by the Sakhalin Regional Folk Art Center with the support of the Regional Ministry of Culture and Archival Affairs.
