“The magic power of singing
In my hazy memory
That’s how visions come to life
Sometimes bright, sometimes sad days …”
A. S. Pushkin
On June 7, the International Library hosted a musical and poetic evening “Reading Pushkin in different languages” dedicated to the poet’s birthday and the Day of the Russian Language. By decree of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the coming year 2024 was named the year of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin – in honor of the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet.
The Russian language has a special purpose – to unite the numerous peoples of Russia, to introduce them to the treasury of world culture, to replenish it with national cultural achievements. The works of A.S. Pushkin have been translated into hundreds of languages of the peoples of Russia and the world today, but the name of the great poet has always been associated with the Russian language – this is the consolidating power of Alexander Sergeevich’s legacy.
A.S. Pushkin’s favorite poems in Russian were performed by representatives of creative and literary associations of the city of Yekaterinburg: the Pushkin, Lermontov and Yesenin clubs, the literary associations Petroglyph and Ural Ark, the Voices of Friends club. The national cultural associations of the Sverdlovsk region traditionally presented the works of Alexander Sergeevich in translations into the languages of the peoples of Russia – poems in Bashkir, Mari, Ossetian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Talysh, as well as English, German and Italian. have been completed.
Konstantin Balmont said: “Pushkin was truly the sun of Russian poetry, spreading his rays over a great distance and bringing to life countless large and small satellites.”
We thank all the participants of the musical and poetic evening for their support of our event and their invaluable love for the work of the great Russian poet, whose name is known in every home in various parts of our country.
