In support of the UNESCO Secretariat for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032), The Lingua-Cultura Experience is running an online advocacy campaign during the month of September to celebrate International Translation Day (ITD) 2022 (September 30). We would like to celebrate translators, interpreters, educators, linguists and other language and cultural professionals working with and promoting indigenous languages and cultures.

Our objective is to bring awareness to how people are working with indigenous languages in different spaces and to showcase the various and diverse career opportunities that are available to indigenous language speakers and learners.

Participants can either submit a one-minute video answering a couple of questions about their language(s), work, successes and hopes for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages or they can share a short quote connecting their work with Indigenous languages and International Translation Day 2022 (this year’s theme is ‘A World Without Barriers’). Participants may also use the questions provided as inspiration for the quote. These quotes and videos will then be reviewed and shared on the Lingua-Cultura Experience, IDIL 2022-2032 and other participating organisations’ online platforms.
