On September 8, the last day of the adaptation week, first-year students of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology visited the ethnocultural and ethnolinguistic educational space “Ethnodom”.

At the Ethnodom, a meeting of first-year students took place with the head of the department of Baltic-Finnish philology T.V. Pashkova, curator associate professor of the department A.A. Kongoeva, 1st year master’s student Valeria Grafova and 4th year undergraduate student Maria Kovalenko.

T.V. Pashkova told the students about the history of the creation of the Ethnodom, about the events and classes that are held there.

Valeria Grafova shared her successes in scientific and educational activities with the first-year students, talked with them about the role and application of the Karelian language in her life and about her motivation to continue her studies in the master’s program.

Maria Kovalenko spoke about the activities of the Toive ensemble, of which she has been a member for several years. Students showed interest in the ensemble’s repertoire and learned how to become a member.

At the end of the meeting, students and teachers of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology answered questions from first-year students who were interested in how to combine studies, their interests and other activities, and how to set priorities correctly. Maria and Valeria shared their experience of taking notes on lectures, writing coursework and completing internships.
