On April 24-25, 2024, Kazan hosted the All-Russian scientific and practical seminar «National Literatures of the Volga Region and the Urals: Research paradigms and practices», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian scientist, author of numerous fundamental works devoted to the study of national images of the world Georgy Dmitrievich Gachev. The event is organized by the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, partners are the Institute of the Russian Language of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after P. Lumumba, Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov.

The scientific and practical seminar was attended by scientists from Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Mari El, Mordovia, Udmurtia, Chuvashia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Kalmykia, Komi, the Republic of Crimea, Yekaterinburg.

The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

– the scientific heritage of G.D. Gachev and modern approaches to the study of national literatures;

– trajectories of the artistic development of the literatures of the Volga region and the Urals: past and present;

– national and regional identity of the literatures of the Volga region and the Urals;

– Volga-Ural literary community: forms of the inter-literary process;

– poetics of the literature of the Volga region and the Urals;

– transcultural processes in the literatures of the Volga region and the Urals. The phenomenon of Russian-language literature;

– methodology of studying national literatures: horizons of comparative studies;

– literature of the Volga region and the Urals in the Russian literary space.

The following round tables were held within the framework of the seminar:

– Poetics of the literatures of the peoples of the Volga region and the Urals;

– The scientific heritage of G. Gachev and modern theoretical and methodological approaches in the research of national literatures and cultures.»

A collective monograph «Poetics of the Literatures of the peoples of the Ural-Volga region» was prepared and published for the event, which included articles by leading literary critics of the Volga-Ural region, as well as a collection of seminar materials.
