The African Languages Conference (AFLC) is a flagship event in linguistic and cultural preservation organized by the African Languages Conference Inc. The fourth edition will happen during the African Languages Week in 2025 with the theme “Harnessing African Languages for Digital Transformation and Social Justice”.

The conference will be a hybrid event with a one day on-site event that will take place at the Department of Linguistics and Communications, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria through a collaboration with the university.

The conference serves as a pivotal platform for language activists and enthusiasts, language professionals, scholars, linguists, and educators to converge, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations aimed at promoting the rich tapestry of African languages.

The conference will have various sessions covering language preservation, technology, translation, interpreting, localization and education, catering to a broad spectrum of interests and expertise. AFLC 2025 will provide participants with a rich and seasoned assembly of speakers and thought leaders from across the African continent and beyond, offering profound insights into the challenges and opportunities surrounding African languages.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads.
