International scientific and practical conference “NATIVE AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN A MULTICULTURAL SPACE”

From November 1 to November 2, 2024, on the basis of the Budgetary institution of higher education of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra “Surgut State University” with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Native and foreign languages in a multicultural space”.

The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The event was dedicated to the International Year of the World’s Indigenous Languages ​​and was held mainly in the format of a scientific conference.

The purpose of the Conference was to exchange professional experience, ideas and approaches of scientists and specialists in the field of studying native and foreign languages, discuss current issues of linguistic and sociolinguistic research of minority languages, problems and theories of teaching the native language, practices of revitalization, maintenance and other experience of using native languages in social life.

A special feature of the conference was also that it brought together not only representatives of the academic community, but also provided a platform for productive dialogue between researchers and representatives of indigenous peoples of the North, speakers of various native languages.
